McGuire has a variety of classes for Christian Education. Listed below are some of the classes we offer on Sunday mornings at 9:30.
Open Hearts
Open Hearts is an interactive class that utilizes group discussion rather than a lecture format. The class was originally organized for young adults but is open to adults of all ages who are interested in discussing the role of Christianity and the Church in today’s world. All points of view are welcomed and members are encouraged to research topics to supplement the study materials. The Open Hearts Sunday School class is beginning a new study based on Max Lucado’s book, Out Live Your Life. The scripturally based book reminds us that 2,000 years ago, 12 ordinary people were called to do extraordinary things, and that we, too, are called by Christ to do the same. As we study the book, we will be participating in several mission projects. Join us each Sunday morning at 9:30 as we learn simple, yet effective ways to make a difference. If you are already in a Sunday School class and would like to participate in our mission projects, contact any member of the class for more information. They are also participating on a lending team, McGuireUMC OpenHearts, on Kiva, a non-profit website that allows you to lend as little as $25 to a specific low-income entrepreneur across the globe. You choose who to lend to - whether a baker in Afghanistan, a goat herder in Uganda, a farmer in Peru, a restaurateur in Cambodia, or a tailor in Iraq - and as they repay the loan, you get your money back. New Beginnings
The New Beginnings class is studying the Adult Bible Studies Uniform Series. This class is a group of mature women who know that you are never too old to stop serving God. They study, share, and pray together.
Cross Talk
The Crosstalk Sunday School class' main mission is to help prepare the young adults facing the spiritual challenges of the world today. Crosstalk is based upon Biblical principles concerning everyday life such as parenting, marriage, money and our daily walk with God. We are currently having a blast with our new book selection "If God is your Co-Pilot, Swap Seats!" We would like to invite all young adults to enjoy this experience with us each Sunday morning at 9:30.
