Pastor's Welcome

Reverend Michi Head was born in Oak Grove, Louisiana in 1960. He graduated from Bernice High School in 1978 and from Louisiana Tech University in 1982 with a B.S. Degree in Medical Administration. While enrolled in the Business Graduate School at La. Tech, he came to McGuire as Youth Minister in 1983. He and his wife Debbie were married at McGuire on May 25, 1985. Rev. Head received a Master’s of Divinity Degree from Perkins School of Theology in 1990. He was ordained Deacon in the Louisiana Conference in 1988 and Elder in Full Connection in 1992. He has served appointments as Associate Pastor at Blackwater United Methodist and Pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, both in Baton Rouge. He was appointed pastor of the McGuire United Methodist Church in June of 1997. Michi and Debbie have two adopted children from Guatemala, Jordy and Carly, as well as their two miniature dachshunds, Stretch and Gitti.

“While serving as youth minister, McGuire confirmed my call into the ministry and sent me to seminary. My wife, Debbie, grew up in this Church and we were married here. Our children, Jordy and Carly were welcomed home from Guatemala and were baptized here. The McGuire family has celebrated with us the greatest and most important of our lives. It is much more than the Church we have been appointed to pastor, McGuire is home for us, our family of faith.”
