: A Menu of Ways to Serve at McGuire UMC (May – July 2015)
“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift you have received (1 Peter 4:10).” No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Please review the iServe menu, and check off the ways you are available to serve.

Use the monthly prayer guide to pray for the needs of the church either at home or in the prayer room
Worship
*
Serve communion during worship
Serve as a back-up usher
Be trained to serve as a media technician

Provide flowers for the altar area one Sunday
Help with organizing the worship supply room
Become a New member of the Care Team who:

Sends cards to members during times of need

Outside game helpers: This helper will help the teacher in setting up the games and helping the children with each game.
Snack time helpers: This helper will help teacher in preparing snacks and setting up snacks for groups and assisting with the children during snacks.
Craft helpers: This helper will help teacher with preparing crafts each day and assisting children during craft time.
Pre-K through 4th Grade Station Leaders: This job is leading children to the different stations and helping with keeping them quiet during Bible Study, singing during music, helping with crafts and helping with behavior if needed.
Decorating and preparing Rooms for Vacation Bible School: This job will be clearing rooms of tables and chairs. Hanging decorations down Sunday school hall and preparing stage in Fellowship Hall on the following dates:

Tuesday, June 9 from 10:00 am-10:00 pm
Wednesday, June 10 from 8:00 am-7:00 pm
Sunday, June 14 from 12:00 pm - until finished
Property & Facilities

Set up tables and chairs for events as needed
Help with the doors and A/C units on Sunday mornings as needed
Help cut grass as needed
Weed eat as needed
Help with building & repair projects as needed
Office

Assist the office staff by running local errands as needed
Serve as a backup for the church secretary answering the phone as needed
Help & support of Youth Ministries
*
Take a written driver’s test to get a chauffeur’s license to be able to drive the church van for youth ministry events
Provide youth breakfast at Sunday School
Teach youth Sunday School
Assist with teaching youth Sunday School
Serve as a back-up teacher for youth Sunday School
Help organize music for the Broken Chains Praise Team
Assist with cleaning the Youth Room
Assemble a shelving unit for the Youth Room
Train to become a Small Group Leader for the Fall
Train to become a sound & media technician for the Broken Chains Praise Team
Serve as a “Roadie” to help transport sound equipment for the Broken Chains Praise Team as needed
On Friday June 5th, serve with Allison in Shreveport setting up a large art ministry project for Annual Conference
On Sunday June 7th, Monday June 8th, Tuesday June 9th, & Wednesday June 10th, help Allison & the youth with a large art ministry project at Annual Conference
On Mondays throughout the summer from 3-5pm, be an adult helper/driver for local youth outreaches
On Tuesdays throughout the summer from 3-5pm, be an adult helper/driver for youth fellowship outings
On Wednesdays throughout the summer from 4-6:30pm: be an adult helper for Hang-time/worship time at the church and for Broken Chains Praise Team Practice
On Thursday, June 11th from 3 – 5 pm, help Allison create large foam backdrop Letters for VBS
On Sunday, June 28th from 12:30-7:30 pm, chaperone the youth & incoming 6th grade trip to Splash Kingdom in Shreveport
On Thursday, July 23rd & Sunday July 26th, help transport youth to & from Weekend of the Cross in Ruston
On Thursday, July 23rd & Sunday July 26th, serve as an adult counselor for Weekend of the Cross
For Sunday, August 2nd at 5pm, help the youth prepare food for the Shareholders Banquet
